As seen at the Sesqucentennial “Mutt Run” Dog park in west Lawrence. First drafts came out in April 2021.
The map displays differences in the density of vegetation and the navigability of the land.

The intention behind this map is to help folks feel special about this local treasure-of-a-dog-park that many people visit once or twice a day.

I myself spend a lot of time with my dog here, and enjoy exploring the lands out underneath the Clinton Lake Dam. To be completely honest, this land kept me sane all the way throughout the pandemic — having a fairly green and yet populated space always feels extra special to visit.

The breakdown between dense vegetation, grassy/rugged areas, and open plains made for an interesting process.

The idea behind the orienteering bit stemmed from meeting one of the folks here at Mutt Run. I had never seen the Style used on a map before, and thought I would give it a try. The breakdown between dense vegetation, grassy/rugged areas, and open plains made for an interesting process that gave me immense respect for orienteering map arrangement gurus.

All copies of this map are printed on a durable, waterproof material.
